Summer reading kickoff: Scio branch is on June 11 from 1 to 3 p.m.; Puskarich Library is June 12 from 5 to 7 p.m.; and Clark Memorial Branch is June 13 at 1:30 p.m.

Soap making class: all materials supplied, limited spots available. Classes will take place at the Scio branch on June 24 at 2 and 6 p.m.; Clark Memorial Branch on June 18 at 2 and 6:30 p.m.; and at the Puskarich Library on June 27 at 2 and 6 p.m.

Crackle polish bracelet class: Cost is $12 per person, limited spots available, call to register. Classes will take place at 6 p.m. at the Clark Memorial Branch on July 5; and the Scio branch on July 23.

MENTAL HEALTH AND SUPPORT GROUPS

Brain Injury Support Group, B.I.G. Support, Puskarich Library Cadiz, second Wednesday of the month from 6-8 p.m. For more information, contact Becky at btbcopperclad@yahoo.com or Tish at 740-695-5161.

Caregiver Support Groups are held virtually through Area Agency on Aging Region 9. They are held the first Tuesday of every month from 1-2:30 p.m., and also the second Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7 p.m. If interested, call 1-800-945-4250 and request the caregiver program.

Wellness Coalition, a group of diverse people collaborating to help reduce the abuse of legal and illegal drugs in Harrison County, meets the second Tuesday of every other month from 1-2 p.m., via Zoom. Info: 724-421-7538.

Al-Anon is held Thursdays at 7 p.m. at First Church of Christ, 139 N. Main St., Cadiz.

Gamblers Anonymous meets at the Cadiz Presbyterian Church every Tuesday at 8 p.m.

ONGOING EVENTS

Unionport Museum is open by appointment only in the old Unionport School, Wayne Township Community Center. The public is cordially invited to stop in and look around. Call 740-944-1445 or 740-944-1492 to make an appointment.

Franklin Museum members meet the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the museum.

Pine Valley Sportsman’s Club Shoot every Sunday at 9 a.m. at the club. Sign-up is 8:30 a.m. Public welcome.

Agricultural Society meets the first Monday of each month at the Harrison County Fairgrounds in Cadiz at 7 p.m. If the first Monday is a holiday, they will meet on the second Monday unless otherwise stated.

Veterans Service will hold its meetings the first Monday of the month at 3 p.m. in the Harrison County Veterans Service Office, Courthouse.

County CIC meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. at alternating locations – either the Puskarich Public Library large meeting room or the Harrison County Government Center conference room. Location is dependent on meeting room availability. For specifics, please call the office at 740-942-2027.

Jewett Food Pantry is open the third Monday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon, and 6-7 p.m. Jewett U.M. Church, 202 W. Main St., 740-946-5591.

The Lord’s Sharing Pantry at Perrysville Church parking lot, 88 Amsterdam Rd. SE (state Route 164), Scio. Open 24 hours, free to all. A wide variety of items are available, such as toilet paper, boxed cereal, peanut butter, protein bars, shampoo, body wash and much more.

Cadiz Food Pantry is open every Tuesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. For families in need, please call 740-942-4300.

Scio Food Pantry is open to Scio, Jewett and Bowerston zip codes on second and fourth Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Scio United Methodist Church, 740-945-4951.

The Conotton Valley Board of Education meetings are now set for the third Wednesday of each month. This is a change from the third Thursday of each month. Upcoming meeting dates are June 19, July 17, Aug. 21, Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20, and Dec. 18, all held at 7 p.m. in the Administrative Conference Room in the Rocket Center.

The Lakeland Board of Education meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the school.

UPCOMING EVENTS

June 8 – Adena Heritage Days Community Yard Sales from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Adena. Anyone is welcome to set up on the village green. Concession stand and maps will be at the village greens that day. To be put on the map for free, call 740-546-3946.

June 8 – The Ourant Schoolhouse will be holding a cakewalk. Food starts at 6 p.m., cakewalk starts at 7 p.m. There will be sandwiches, side dishes, strawberries, and ice cream along with music. Please bring a cake and take part in the old fashioned walk! School is located off Deersville Ridge (County Road 2) on Ourant Road in Cadiz. Signs will be posted.

June 11 – The Harrison County Military Support Group will be packing boxes at 6 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center in Cadiz. Please drop off all donation items by 5:45 p.m. Volunteers always welcome.

June 22 – The Harrison Women’s Club will hold a Basket Bingo at the Jewett Fire House beginning at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m. $30 per ticket, which includes three bingo cards, 9 games. June 22 – Dance to the Polkaholics at the Adena Fire Station at 270 E. Main St., Adena, from 6-9 p.m. $5 cover charge. Polish food available for purchase including cabbage rolls, pierogis, kielbasa, hot dogs, and drinks. For more information, please call 740-546-3946.

June 26 – HARCATUS will hold its annual organizational meeting at 1 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 233 Fair Ave. NE, New Philadelphia. Public comment with respect to agency operations is welcomed at that time.
