Tuscarawas County library to host fake news, fact-checking program
Attendees will learn ways to identify fake news, explore methods for critical thinking and learn how to separate fact from fiction
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will host How to Spot Fake News: Fact Checking 101 Wednesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. at its Main Library in New Philadelphia.
The program will provide tools to help people identify real news, fake news and disinformation.
“It’s important to know where the news you are reading is coming from and whether it is factual and accurate,” Technology Training Coordinator Leigh Burnham said.
Attendees will learn ways to identify fake news, explore methods for critical thinking and learn how to separate fact from fiction. Burnham will discuss simple tools and websites that can be used to determine whether the news you are reading and seeing on social media is real or fake before sharing it.
