'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' opens June 26

The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County will stage the musical at 466 Carrie Ave. NW for three weekends through July 12

The story follows Willy Wonka as he opens the gates to his mysterious factory, where Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners discover chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator.

“Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” will open June 26 at The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County and run for three weekends.

Performances are scheduled for June 26, 27 and 28 and July 3, 5, 10, 11 and 12. There will be no July 4 performance. Two performances will be held July 11.

Directed by Joe Compton, the musical features songs from the motion picture, music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by David Greig.

The cast includes Timothy Charlton as Willy Wonka, Emma Friley as Charlie Bucket, Chester Boffo as Grandpa Joe, Katrina Pauley as Mrs. Bucket, Roxie Long as Grandma Josephine, Emily Flood as Grandma Georgina, William Hammerstrom as Grandpa George, Morgan Marshall as Mrs. Gloop, Grayson Moore as Augustus Gloop, Dylan Dunn as Mr. Salt, Allie Bonvechio as Veruca Salt, Ryan Best as Mr. Beauregarde, Bri Best as Violet Beauregarde, Jaxon Burdette as Mike Teavee, Chelsea Rhodes as Mrs. Teavee, Lanie Wenger as Mrs. Green, Derek Shimek as Jerry Jubilee and Jade Boffo as Cherry Sundae.

The ensemble includes Garret Davis, Allison Fletcher, Kaleigh McCutcheon, Tabitha Miller, Cadence Mitchell, Gaven Mitchell, Rylan Pettay, Elaina Samsa, Rowan Smith, Stella Tompkins, Lydia Warfield, Nicholas White, Micah David Wiese and Makenna Wimer.

Assisting Compton are Francis Brogan, assistant director; Megan Sams, music director; and Abigail Zeedyk, choreographer. Josie McCutcheon and David Rutter are the producers.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children and military members. Tickets are available at the theater website, www.thelittletheatreonline.org/ and at the door during performances.
