Bolon receives Tuscarawas County Art Guild scholarship

Ashlynn Bolon is receiving the $1,000 scholarship and plans to major in graphic design at Ohio University.

The Tuscarawas County Art Guild has announced its 2026 scholarship winner, Ashlynn Bolon.

Bolon is a senior at Indian Valley High School and is the daughter of Jeremy and Allison Bolon of Dennison. She is an active member of the National Art Honor Society, serving one year as secretary and one year as historian. She also participated in painting the LoveTusc sculpture in Gnadenhutten, two Starlight murals and the Braves head in the square of Gnadenhutten.

Bolon has earned multiple awards in the Scholastic Art Awards, recognition at the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition and participation in the Cameo Art Show of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. She also is involved in softball, volleyball, color guard, Braves Head Nation Communication, student council, drama club, numerous choir clubs and National Honor Society.

Bolon has a strong work ethic, reflected in her 4.089 GPA. Her kindness toward others makes her a great teammate, and her positive attitude with challenges makes her a strong leader.

Bolon is receiving the $1,000 scholarship and plans to major in graphic design at Ohio University.

A reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at the Tuscarawas Center for the Arts for the Senior High School Art Show and presentation of awards. Jeannine Kennedy, director of TCCA, will present the awards for the art show, and Deb Walker, Art Guild president, will present the scholarship to Bolon. Refreshments will follow the awards ceremony.

Local artists, teachers and members of the Tuscarawas County community are encouraged to attend to support young artists and their pursuit of art at various levels and mediums.

The Tuscarawas County Art Guild is a nonprofit organization of people interested in the advancement of the arts. It is supported by annual dues, commissions on sales and outside contributions. The Art Guild is represented by artists of all ages and skill levels, from beginner to professional. The artists use a variety of mediums, including photography, acrylic, watercolor, oil, wood carving, glass, mixed media, painted threads, pottery and jewelry.

The artists attend and exhibit at local shows, businesses and competitions. This year will be the 22nd year the scholarship has been awarded by the Art Guild.
