Nine property tax levy petitions were filed by the Aug. 6 deadline with the Carroll County Board of Elections for the Nov. 4 general election. The filings include measures in two villages — Sherrodsville and Leesville — four townships — Loudon, Fox, Augusta and Union — and two fire districts — Monroe Township-Sherrodsville and B & M — along with one local option for two liquor permits.
According to Deloris Kean, director of elections, the following petitions were filed but had not been fully certified at Monday’s Board of Elections meeting.
Village Tax Levies
— Village of Sherrodsville – Renewal of a 2-mill tax levy for five years
commencing in tax year 2026 for current expenses.
— Village of Leesville – Renewal of a 1.8-mill tax levy for five years
commencing in tax year 2025 for current expenses.
— Village of Leesville – Renewal of a 1.8-mill tax levy for five years
commencing in tax year 2025 for fire protection services.
Township Levies
— Loudon Twp. – Renewal of a 0.5-mill tax levy for five years commencing in tax
year 2026 for fire protection.
— Fox Twp. – An additional 2.5-mill tax levy for five years commencing in 2026
for general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of streets,
roads and bridges.
— Augusta Twp. – Replacement of a 2.5-mill tax levy for five years commencing
in 2026 for general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repairing of
streets, roads and bridges.
— Union Twp. – Replacement of a 2.45-mill tax levy for five years commencing in
2026 for general construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of roads.
Monroe Twp.-Sherrodsville Fire District
Renewal of a 1-mill tax levy for five years commencing in 2026 for providing
and maintaining fire apparatus, appliances, buildings or sites therefor, or
sources of water supply and materials therefor; the establishment and
maintenance of lines of fire alarm telegraph; or the payment of permanent,
part-time or volunteer firefighters or fire-fighting companies to operate the
same; or to purchase ambulance equipment; or to provide ambulance or emergency
medical services operated by a fire department or fire-fighting company.
B & M Ambulance District
Renewal of a 0.80-mill tax levy for five years commencing in 2025 for
providing ambulance service, emergency medical service or both.
Eastern Ohio Sports (Orange Precinct only)
— Petitions for two local option permits including a D5 permit for off-premises
liquor sales and a D6 permit for Sunday sales of liquor at Eastern Ohio Sports
complex at 8155 Dawn Rd., Sherrodsville.
Area Issues
Minerva Senior Center — Renewal of a 0.3-mill tax levy for Minerva Senior Citizens services for five
years commencing in 2026.
Magnolia Village — Renewal of a 3-mill tax levy for current expenses for five years commencing
in 2026.
Waynesburg Village — Renewal of a 2-mill tax levy for five years commencing in 2026.
Sandy Valley School District — Renewal of a 2-mill tax levy for five years commencing in 2026.
Quad Ambulance District (Stark and Carroll) — Renewal of a 6-mill tax levy for ambulance services for five years commencing
in 2026.
