Southern Local senior Madalyne Jones named October Student of the Month

Southern Local High School senior Madalyne Jones has been chosen as the Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month for October.
Daughter of Nathan and Amanda Jones of Salineville, Madalyne currently holds a 4.196 GPA and is ranked first in her class. She has been involved in a variety of organizations throughout her time at SLHS, including the National Honor Society, where she serves as vice president, as well as Spanish Club, Student Council, and the College Credit Plus program.
Additionally, she has excelled in athletics in basketball and track and field. She is a two-year letter winner in basketball, where she served as captain last year, and earned Honorable Mention All-Columbiana County All-Stars, Second Team All-EOAC, and Second Team All-OVAC for her talents on the court.
She is also a three-year letter winner in track and field and serves as captain. She participates in shot put and discus. Jones is a three-time state qualifier, a two-time OVAC champion in shot put and discus, a three-time EOAC champion in shot put and discus, a Columbiana County shot put and discus champion, a two-time district shot put champion, a district discus champion, 2025 Regional runner-up in shot put and discus, and an EOAC discus record-holder. She has also set multiple track and field records at Southern Local.
Following graduation, Jones plans to enroll in a four-year university and major in biology and pre-medicine.
