Ohio title fees to increase Jan. 1

Watercraft and mobile home title fees are not affected and will remain unchanged

The cost of obtaining a vehicle title in Carroll County will increase Jan. 1, 2026, under a new state budget.

Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Ohio will increase vehicle certificate of title fees under the recently passed state budget. In Carroll County, the fee will rise from $15 to $18, with the $3 increase designated to help fund the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Watercraft and mobile home title fees are not affected and will remain unchanged.

Some counties may add an additional $5 local fee for county use. Motorists are advised to contact the title office in the county where the title will be processed to confirm current fees.

Updated Carroll County title fees include: original title, $18; replacement titles, $18; duplicate titles, $18; lien notations with or without memo, $18; repossession titles, $18; leasing dealer, $18; dealer resale with lien or lien notation, $18; daily rental, company and vendor, $18; salvage with lien with or without memo, $18; memorandum only, $5 with no increase; dealer resale titles, $5 with no increase; dealer replacement titles with no lien, $5; dealer duplicate titles, $18; late fee, $5 with no increase; archive fee, $5 with no increase; salvage titles, $4; salvage replacement, $4 with no increase; inspection fee, $1.50 with no increase; affidavit fee, $1 with no increase.

For dealerships, title work received before Jan. 1, 2026, but processed after that date must be charged at the new rate of $18, or $23 if an additional county fee applies. The automated title processing system cannot revert fees to the previous $15 rate.

The fee to obtain a resale title remains $5 for licensed Ohio auto dealers.
