Minerva High School’s commitment to career exploration was on full display when the freshman class participated in the recent two-day Minerva Manufacturing Day Tour.
“This successful two-day event provided ninth-grade students with a firsthand look at the diverse and high-tech career paths available in their own community,” said Minerva Local Schools Superintendent Mark Scott.
The entire freshman class took part in the tour, gaining exposure to essential local operations and the variety of industries that support the region’s economy. Students visited several key facilities, including:
The Minerva Fire Department, where they learned about community services and the specialized equipment used in emergency response; Regal Metal Products, which demonstrated precision stamping and manufacturing for the automotive and agricultural industries; and Durafin Tube, a leader in heat exchanger tubing, where students saw complex fabrication and quality control processes in action.
In addition, PCC Airfoils, a manufacturer of advanced turbine components for aircraft engines, brought its presentation to the high school, allowing all freshmen to learn about the company’s technology and career opportunities.
“This was another successful opportunity to hopefully inspire our students to consider different career paths after graduating,” said Minerva High School Principal Andy Mangun. “We are incredibly proud of the Minerva businesses that open their doors to help shape our future workforce.”
Scott expressed gratitude to all participating businesses for their continued partnership and dedication to educating the next generation of Minerva’s workforce.
