The Yarnians will meet Friday, March 13, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Carroll County District Library to knit and crochet items in support of The Willow House, a local resource hub serving the foster care community.
There is a special kind of magic that happens when a community picks up its knitting needles and crochet hooks. At the Carroll County District Library, that magic has a name: the Yarnians.
This dedicated monthly group is more than just a gathering for hobbyists; it’s a reflection of community spirit. While members usually meet to swap patterns and stories, this year the Yarnians are turning their talents toward a vital local cause, The Willow House.
Located in Carrollton, The Willow House serves as a resource hub for the foster care community. Its mission includes prevention, intervention and restoration, ensuring local families have the support they need during challenging transitions.
To support that mission, the Yarnians are crafting baby blankets to provide warmth and security, hand-stitched bonnets for infants and booties to keep tiny toes warm.
This isn’t the group’s first time giving back. Longtime members may remember their previous work with the Red Scarf Project, but this year the focus is on serving families closer to home.
Whether experienced with knitting needles or just learning, participants are welcome. The gathering offers a chance to knit, crochet and connect while supporting a meaningful cause.
Those interested are invited to attend, bring yarn and help stitch together a warmer future for Carroll County.
