Caty Brewer named Kiwanis Scholar of the Month

Caty Brewer has been selected as the Salineville Kiwanis Scholar of the Month for February.

The Southern Local High School senior is the daughter of Kyle and Jenny Brewer of Salineville and ranks 20th in her class with a 3.694 GPA.

She has been active in Spanish Club for two years, Student Council for four years and the SLHS FFA chapter for four years. She serves as FFA treasurer and has been named the top fruit salesperson for four years.

She has been a member of the Baler Twines 4-H Club for five years and has served as president for the past three years. She also has completed community service with the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Columbiana County Junior Fair Board and the Salineville Kiwanis Club.

Brewer has built an athletic career at SLHS, earning one letter in basketball, two in golf, three in track and field and four in cross country. She has received awards in track and cross country, including honors in the 800-meter run and relay events, as well as first-team, second-team and honorable mention recognition in EOAC, OVAC, All-County and All-District selections.

After high school, she plans to attend college and pursue a degree in radiologic technology.
