Coshocton kicks off events with pub crawl

Annual St. Patty’s Day Pub Crawl launches downtown's vibrant event season, boosting local businesses and community spirit

Our Town Coshocton is a community-driven, nonprofit, Main Street organization dedicated to restoring, promoting and energizing Coshocton’s historic district. Through events, restoration efforts, business support and volunteer-driven initiatives, we work to ensure our historic district remains a vibrant, welcoming and economically strong destination for residents and visitors alike.

Have you ever wondered what purpose downtown events truly serve? While they often look like exciting celebrations such as pub crawls, seasonal festivities and holiday traditions, all our events have one thing in common: They are intentionally designed to strengthen the vitality of our historic district. These events create meaningful opportunities for local businesses, encourage community connection, and support the long-term health and growth of the downtown economy.

When we create experiences that draw people downtown, we create opportunity. Increased foot traffic means more people stepping into shops they may have never visited, discovering a new favorite restaurant, scheduling a future appointment with a local service provider or simply realizing how much our historic district has to offer. These events serve as a powerful reminder that our downtown is not just a place you pass through — it is a place to gather, explore and belong in.

For small businesses, visibility is everything. Unlike large retailers with national advertising budgets, our downtown merchants rely on community support and word-of-mouth. Events provide an essential platform for them to showcase their products, connect with new customers and build lasting relationships. A single event visit can turn into a repeat customer, and that repeat customer helps sustain local jobs, families and the overall health of our economy.

But the impact goes beyond commerce. Downtown events strengthen community pride. They create shared memories. They provide welcoming spaces for families, friends and neighbors to spend time together. They remind us we are part of something bigger — a community that shows up for one another. When you attend a downtown event, you are doing more than enjoying an evening out. You are supporting local entrepreneurs, encouraging investment in our historic buildings and helping to ensure our downtown remains vibrant for future generations.

Community participation is what makes these events successful. Your presence matters. Bringing a friend matters. Shopping local during an event matters. Every visit, every purchase and every shared social media post contributes to the momentum that keeps our downtown thriving.

Coshocton’s historic district tells the story of who we are — resilient, welcoming and proud of our heritage. Downtown events help keep that story alive while shaping the next chapter. Downtown events exist for one primary purpose: to bring people together in the heart of our community and to support the small businesses that give Coshocton its character and charm.

As we look ahead to another exciting year in downtown Coshocton, our team is especially energized for the first major event of the season — the annual St. Patty’s Day Pub Crawl Friday, March 13. This event marks the kickoff to our downtown event calendar and sets the tone for a year focused on connection, community pride and support for our local businesses. It’s more than a festive evening— it’s a celebration of the energy and momentum building within our historic district.

I encourage you to come downtown, stay a while, and experience all our local businesses and community have to offer. Together, we can continue building a vibrant, connected and thriving Coshocton.
