They’re Coming to Take Me Away
Letter to the Editor
End the status quo
Writer praises turnout at No Kings event but calls for action beyond rhetoric
I’m writing to thank the Free Press Standard for covering the No Kings event in New Philadelphia. I was there too and was impressed with the turn out and the passion people exhibited.
I couldn’t help noticing that, while having plenty to say about Donald Trump, there was little if any specifics about what people would like to see instead. There was not a word about endless wars, climate change, the Genocide in Gaza or our rigged health care system.
There were some references to wages and equal opportunity, but no specifics. A speaker called for working together and reaching out, but we've heard that for 40 years and working people haven’t seen any improvements.
It’s not no kings that we need and deserve, but an end to the status quo. The Democratic Party continues to play it safe.
