After evening their record with a narrow win over Edison in Week 2, Carrollton visited Cloverleaf Sept. 5 looking to continue its winning ways. Instead, the Warriors ran into a buzzsaw as the Colts dominated in a 42-18 victory.

Cloverleaf galloped to a 14-0 first-quarter lead as Carrollton was held off the scoreboard until Levi Kiko scored on an 8-yard run in the second period. After the Colts answered to go up 21-7, Carrollton closed the half with a quick drive capped by a 27-yard Paycen Havens field goal with seven seconds remaining.

Any momentum the Warriors gained disappeared in the second half when they muffed a punt in their own end zone. Cloverleaf recovered for a 28-10 advantage, then added another touchdown to extend the lead to 35-10 with 5:35 left in the third.

The Colts (2-1) finished with a 352-225 advantage in total yards over Carrollton (1-2). Kiko rushed 14 times for 78 yards as the Warriors ran 38 plays to Cloverleaf’s 58. Quarterback Allison completed 18 of 23 passes for 147 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown to Jaden Murphy, who had five receptions for 45 yards.

Turnovers were costly for Carrollton, which gave the ball away five times on one interception and four fumbles.
