The Carrollton High School Choral Department will host the annual Eastern Buckeye Conference Honors Choir Festival Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the Carrollton High School auditorium.

Participating schools include Alliance, Carrollton, Marlington, Minerva and West Branch. Each high school choir will perform individual selections during the first half of the concert, which begins at 7 p.m. Select student ensembles from each school will rehearse together starting at noon for the mass choir performance.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

The mass choir will be directed by Dr. Matthew Swope, director of choral activities and assistant professor of music at Kent State University. The combined group will perform three selections, along with separate pieces by men’s and women’s ensembles.

Eden Walker of Beloit, a University of Mount Union graduate with a degree in piano, will serve as the collaborative pianist.

Directors of the five participating choirs include Carrie Chunat of Alliance, Mindy Domer of Carrollton, Nick Modney of Marlington, Debbie Imler of Minerva and Krista Clay of West Branch.

Dinner for the 118 students and seven adult directors will be prepared and served by the CHS cafeteria staff under the leadership of Barbara Burns.

Domer said the EBC Honors Choir Festival, founded more than 30 years ago, was created to bring together schools from the athletic conference for a day of musical collaboration and shared performance.
