"Hadestown" is a folk musical that interweaves the ancient Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone, following a captivating journey to the underworld and back. Narrated by the Greek messenger god Hermes and guided by the Fates, the story explores timeless themes of love, hope and perseverance.

Written by Anaïs Mitchell in 2006 and still playing on Broadway, the musical features a jazz-inflected folk score that delves into the contrasts between nature and industry, doubt and faith, and the enduring power of music.
