Carroll County grand jury issues 13 indictments involving assault, strangulation, theft and drug charges

Prosecutor Steven Barnett reports serious felony cases, including multiple domestic violence and drug possession counts, with arraignments set for Nov. 20 in Common Pleas Court.

Assault, strangulation, theft, and drug violations were among the 13 indictments returned during a half-day session Nov. 5 by the Carroll County grand jury.

According to Carroll County Prosecuting Attorney Steven D. Barnett, the grand jury heard testimony from 11 witnesses involving the 13 cases, all of which were returned as indictments.

Assault cases

— Trent A. Boyle, 27, of 405 Alameda Ave., Minerva, was indicted on one count of assault (a fourth-degree felony), one count of domestic violence (a first-degree misdemeanor), and one count of resisting arrest (a second-degree misdemeanor).

According to Barnett, Minerva police officers responded to a Valley Street residence Sept. 28, 2025, where Boyle assaulted his girlfriend after arguing over child custody. When officers arrived to investigate, Boyle struck the girlfriend in the officer’s presence, and as the officer attempted to take him into custody, Boyle attempted to strike the officer with a closed fist. During the ensuing struggle, Boyle was tased and continued to resist being placed in a police vehicle. The victim was treated and released for her injuries at Aultman Hospital.

— Nicholas B. Richardi, 23, of 17 Itawamba Trail, Malvern, was indicted on two counts of aggravated vehicular assault (each third-degree felonies), two counts of vehicular assault (each fourth-degree felonies), and two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs (each first-degree misdemeanors).

Barnett said Richardi was operating a pickup truck that overturned Aug. 24 and crashed off Avalon Road north of Malvern. During the investigation, state troopers determined Richardi was driving under the influence of alcohol, registering 0.362 grams of alcohol in his urine. Richardi and two passengers in the vehicle were injured. One passenger, age 21, sustained eight broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder, and severe facial lacerations. A second passenger, age 44, sustained cuts and scrapes and a serious tongue injury.

— Troy A. Campbell, 58, of 7162 Sandy Lane NW, Malvern, was indicted on one count of felonious assault (a second-degree felony). Campbell reportedly pulled a knife on his mother’s boyfriend Oct. 25, assaulted him, and attempted to stab him during an argument at their Sandy Lane residence.

Strangulation cases

— Albert M. Ullman III, 38, and Marsha M. Ullman, 45, both of 3300 Ivory Rd. NW, Carrollton, and Jordan M. Poracky, 24, of 3330 Lunar Rd., Carrollton, were each indicted on one count of strangulation (a fourth-degree felony) and one count of domestic violence (a first-degree misdemeanor).

According to Barnett, Carroll County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Oct. 26, 2025, to Ivory Road for a report of a missing 17-year-old juvenile. Prior to deputies arriving, the juvenile and his sister came to the sheriff’s office, reporting the juvenile was physically assaulted by his father, stepmother, and stepbrother, including being strangled. Deputies observed injuries consistent with the report and later took the family members into custody.

— Linkon J. Sealock, 26, of 325 4th Dr. NW, New Philadelphia, was indicted on one count of strangulation (a fourth-degree felony) and one count of domestic violence (a first-degree misdemeanor). Sealock allegedly assaulted a woman Oct. 13, 2025, with whom he lived at a residence in Leesville by striking and strangling her.

Theft case

— James A. Hiles, 34, of 883 Franklin Ave., Apt. 2, Salem, was indicted on one count of theft (a fifth-degree felony). Hiles allegedly stole a trailer that contained a zero-turn lawn mower and other tools from an Aurora Road driveway Sept. 12, 2025. He later sold them to someone on Facebook, who recognized them as belonging to the Aurora Road owner. The trailer and mower were recovered, but the other items were not, Barnett said.

Drug indictments

— Joseph L. Myers, 35, of 8708 Clay St., Mineral City, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs (a fifth-degree felony) and one count of inducing panic (a first-degree misdemeanor). Myers threatened a woman at a Carrollton business Oct. 6 after chasing her to the store where her husband worked. Carrollton police officers discovered Myers nearby and took him into custody, finding methamphetamine in his vehicle.

— Robert E. Spivey, 54, of 3804 Lesh St. NE, Canton, and Teresa M. Harford, 53, of 416 Clay St. NW, Malvern, were each indicted on drug charges. Spivey was indicted on one count of tampering with evidence (a third-degree felony), one count of possession of cocaine (a fifth-degree felony), and one count of drug paraphernalia offenses (a fourth-degree misdemeanor). Harford was indicted on one count of possession of cocaine (a fifth-degree felony) and one count of drug paraphernalia offenses (a fourth-degree misdemeanor).

According to Barnett, crack cocaine was found in a soda can and a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine was found sticking out of Spivey’s shoe during an Oct. 18 traffic stop in Brown Township. Deputies determined Spivey attempted to dissolve the crack cocaine in the soda can prior to the stop. During the same stop, a baggie of crack cocaine and a glass pipe were found sticking out of Harford’s clothing.

— Todd E. Misitano, 52, of 8261 Cindell St. SE, East Canton, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs (a fifth-degree felony) and one count of drug paraphernalia offenses (a fourth-degree misdemeanor).

According to Barnett, Carroll County sheriff’s deputies took Misitano into custody Oct. 22 on multiple outstanding arrest warrants from Stark County. During a search after his arrest, deputies found two small baggies containing methamphetamine and a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine in his pocket.

— Kevin R. Byrd, 59, of 715 2nd St. NE, Canton, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs (a fifth-degree felony) and one count of criminal trespass (a fourth-degree misdemeanor).

Byrd was asked to leave a Blade Road woman’s property by Carroll County sheriff’s deputies after they were called Oct. 12 to remove him from the property. Eleven minutes after deputies left, Byrd returned, whereupon deputies also returned and arrested him. Upon searching his belongings after the arrest, deputies found methamphetamine in a suitcase Byrd had in his possession.

Arraignments for those indicted are scheduled before Carroll County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael V. Repella II beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20.
