Area school board races bring mix of new faces and returning members

Voters across Carroll and surrounding counties re-elected several incumbents while welcoming new members to boards in the Brown, Conotton Valley, Minerva and Southern local school districts following the Nov. 4 election.

Incumbents were re-elected to boards of education in three area school districts, while new members were chosen in four others as a result of the Nov. 4 election. 

Incumbent members, with unofficial vote totals, were re-elected to four-year terms on the following boards of education: 

— Carrollton Exempted Village School District (two to elect): Ernest Steven Pridemore Jr., 1,742; Savannah Harris, 1,402. 

— Edison Local School District (three to elect): Aaron A. Richardson, 1,438; Anna Ault, 1,422; Ronald L. Smyth, 1,387. Totals include the counties of Carroll, Harrison and Jefferson. 

— Sandy Valley Local School District (two to elect): Amie Snyder, 1,091; Ike Winters, 979. Totals include the counties of Carroll, Stark and Tuscarawas. 

Boards with new members 

— Brown Local School District (two to elect): Tami L. Hulit (incumbent), 475; Jordan Z. Wade (new member), 398. 

— Conotton Valley Union Local School District (two to elect): Shawn Leggett, 367; Nicole Bower, 340 (both new members); Jason Galigher (incumbent), 287. 

— Minerva Local School District (three to elect): Susan Crawford (incumbent), 1,294; Donald J. Spinell (incumbent), 1,094; Roger P. Herstine (new), 913; Tara Lawson (new), 890; Thomas M. Freeland (incumbent), 851; Totals include the counties of Carroll, Stark and Columbiana.

— Southern Local School District (three to elect): Scott Hart (incumbent), 640; Jeremiah Cole (new), 635; Elizabeth Weston (new), 591; John R. Sawyer (incumbent), 519. Totals include the counties of Carroll, Columbiana and Jefferson.
