Zoar Merry Miles fun run returns Dec. 6 to kick off Christmas in Zoar

Kick off your Christmas in Zoar experience with the Zoar Merry Miles, a three-mile fun run and walk that winds around and through the village of Zoar, beautifully decorated in its Christmas splendor. The event also includes a Kid’s Fun Run for children 10 and under, which covers just under half a mile. Family members may run or walk alongside their child.

The course features a mix of roads and trails with moderate hills, taking participants past the Zoar Garden, across the iron bridge, through the wetlands and along a trail that leads back into the village.

The event will take place Saturday, Dec. 6, in Zoar. Race day registration and packet pickup will begin at 7:30 a.m. The Kid’s Fun Run will start at 8:45 a.m. and is untimed, followed by the Zoar Merry Miles at 9 a.m. The awards ceremony will take place at 10 a.m.

Registration for the 5K is $30 through Dec. 5 and $35 on race day. The Kid’s Fun Run is free. Participants will enjoy cookies, soup, hot chocolate, granola bars and fruit at the finish line. All finishers will receive a locally handcrafted medal.

Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers and the top three male and female runners in each of the following age groups: 14 and under, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69 and 70 and older.

Event shirts are available in youth sizes extra small through large and adult sizes small through 3X-large. A no–T-shirt option is available for a $5 discount. Shirts will be limited after Nov. 15.

Due to narrow trail sections and exposed tree roots, strollers are not permitted. Dogs on fixed leashes are allowed on the course.
