Tusky Valley Ruritan sets Atwood plans

The club discussed fall festival staffing, announced a gun auction and scheduled its Citizen of the Year award for July 21

The next club meeting will be its annual steak fry at 6 p.m. July 21 at the Trojan Center. Members’ spouses are invited.

The Tusky Valley Ruritan Club met June 16 for its monthly dinner meeting at the Trojan Center in the Administration Building of the Tusky Valley School District in Zoarville.

Ten members and one guest attended. The meal was catered by Kathy’s Cookies, Candies & Catering and included lasagna, tossed salad, breadsticks with butter and Oreo Delight for dessert.

President Randie McRobie thanked members for working at the recent Bolivar Strawberry Festival fundraiser. Club member Russell Dean was thanked for his quilt donation. Dean’s current and past quilt contributions were highlighted in this month’s Ruritan National magazine.

The club discussed its plans to attend the Atwood Fall Festival Oct. 2-4. Members will be asked to sign up for work rosters beginning in July.

Club member Rich Kohler reported guns were purchased for the club’s gun auction. They include a CVA .50-caliber muzzleloader, a Henry Golden Boy .22-caliber lever-action rifle and a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9 mm semiautomatic handgun.

Tickets are available from club members. Winners will be drawn at the Atwood Fall Festival. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25. Tickets also may be purchased from Kohler at Rawhide Firearms by calling 330-268-5306.

The next club meeting will be its annual steak fry at 6 p.m. July 21 at the Trojan Center. Members’ spouses are invited. The club will present its Citizen of the Year award to an outstanding community member who exemplifies service to the community.
