Dover library to host data center talk
Environmental scientist Dr. Randi Pokladnik will speak July 8 on how hyperscale data centers may affect Ohio communities
Dr. Randi Pokladnik, an environmental scientist, will present The Environmental Impacts of Hyperscale Data Centers at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St.
Pokladnik will discuss the increase of data centers in Ohio since 2010 and address concerns about how they may affect communities, including power generation and use, light pollution, air pollution, noise pollution and the loss of rural lifestyles.
Pokladnik has been an environmental activist in the Ohio River Valley for more than 50 years. She is a retired research chemist and teacher who continues to speak and write about issues affecting the Ohio Valley. She was named the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition’s Activist of the Year.
