Shroades named Kiwanis Student of the Month
After graduation, she plans to attend Kent State University, where she will major in nursing
Southern Local High School senior Allyssa Shroades has been selected as the Salineville Kiwanis December Student of the Month.
Shroades is the daughter of Christina Shroades of Salineville. She is ranked seventh in her class and maintains a 3.978 grade-point average.
She has compiled successful academic and athletic careers as a member of the Southern Local volleyball and basketball teams. In volleyball, Shroades has earned First Team Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference honors, All-Conference Ohio Valley Athletic Conference recognition, Second Team Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association District 1 honors and MaxPreps Player of the Year recognition.
In basketball, she has received numerous honors, including First Team EOAC, All-Star 2023, Second Team All-Columbiana County All-Star 2023, Second Team All-OVAC All-Star 2023, Honorable Mention All-Area Morning Journal 2023, Honorable Mention Northeast Inland District Division IV 2023 and First Team All-EOAC honors for the 2024-25 season. She also holds school records for three-pointers in a game, a season and a career.
Shroades is active in Student Council, Spanish Club, Varsity Club and the National Honor Society and volunteers at youth basketball tournaments.
After graduation, she plans to attend Kent State University, where she will major in nursing.
