For the first time in the history of the Carrollton Exempted Village School
District, all students will be in the same location when classes open
Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Closing of the former Carrollton Elementary and
Carrollton High School buildings, which are being demolished, marked the end of
separate locations and the beginning of one school complex.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Aug. 2 at the
new Carrollton Elementary location at the Carrollton Schools Complex on SR 332,
just south of Carrollton.
Superintendent's Comments
“What a great time to be a Warrior,” said Carrollton Schools Superintendent David Davis. “In my 30 years at Carrollton Schools, I cannot remember a time that I was more excited to start the school year. We are very blessed to have the opportunity to have all of our students together on one campus and under one roof.”
Davis noted that in 1989, then-Superintendent Larry Pontuti and the Board of Education purchased 157 acres of land south of town with the vision of building new school facilities there. “With the opening of the new Carrollton Elementary building, that vision is no longer a dream — it's a reality,” he said.
While celebrating the new facilities, Davis also reflected on the district’s history. “I'd like to take a moment to remember the past and thank all of the structures that served us with honor over the past 150-plus years — starting with the original eight-room school built in 1867,” he said. “The people who paid for, built, and attended those buildings laid the foundation for the new buildings we enjoy today. We can't pay them back; we can only reinforce and celebrate what they knew all those years ago — schools are more than bricks and mortar. Indeed, Carrollton Schools are much more than buildings — they are family; they are spirit; they are what binds us together as a community. We should all be very proud to be members of Warrior Nation.”
Davis also announced that there will be no increases in student lunch prices for the 2025–26 school year. Breakfast will be free for all students. Elementary lunches will cost $3, and middle and high school lunches will be $3.25. Students who qualify for reduced-price lunches will once again receive free lunches. Staff pricing will be announced later.
The district's open house will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Students and parents are invited to visit their school, meet teachers, pick up class schedules, and prepare for the first day of school on Aug. 20.
“I hope everyone had a great summer and are ready and excited for a new school year,” Davis said. “I hope that 2025–26 is your best school year ever. GO WARRIORS.”
