Newly elected member joins Brown Local School Board
A newly elected board member, Jordan Wade, along with incumbent Tami Hulit, took the oath of office for new four-year terms
A newly elected board member, Jordan Wade, along with incumbent Tami Hulit, took the oath of office for new four-year terms on the Brown Local Board of Education at the Jan. 13 meeting.
They join current board members Tara Bowe, Nathan Bush and Kimberly Engle.
During the organizational meeting, Tami Hulit was re-elected board president while Kimberly Engle was elected vice president.
Hulit was appointed legislative liaison and Wade was named student achievement liaison for 2026.
Regular monthly meetings were set for Feb. 17, March 9, April 13, May 11, June 8, Aug. 27, Sept. 14, Oct. 19 and Nov. 9.
In other business, the board:
— Approved payment of November 2025 bills totaling $1,385,086.74 and December bills in the amount of $709,243.67.
— Approved budget and purpose statements for the 2025-26 school year for boys basketball and yearbook.
— Approved the 2027 tax budget to be submitted to the Carroll County Budget Commission.
— Approved an addition to the Stark County School Council of Governments program agreement.
— Approved the following resignations: Darren Becknell, custodian; Jayme Debo, bus driver; Tami Warner, teacher.
— Approved one-year contracts with compensation paid according to the salary schedule for Tabitha McElroy, bus driver; Landyn Moreland, custodian.
— Approved additional time as needed for Megan James, educational aide; Maysie Rogers, intervention specialist; Shannon Schmidt, instructor.
— Approved a memorandum of understanding with Kent State University for College Credit Plus.
— Approved home instruction at a tutor rate based on the teacher’s per diem rate for the 2025-26 school year for Renee Congo and Katie Tidwell.
— Approved the following supplemental contracts for the 2025-26 school year for Renee Barrino, assistant track coach; Shelby Combs and Kayla Hall, both junior high track coaches; Kelsi Hulit, Kyle LeBeau and Natalie Sarbaugh, all assistant track coaches; Tara Tucci and Gabrielle Wallace, both assistant softball coaches; Landon Waller, assistant baseball coach.
— Approved James Bowe, Joseph Evans and Justin Heavelyn as classified substitutes.
— Approved Jenna Trifelos as a certified substitute.
— Approved tuition reimbursement for Matthew Chiurco.
— Approved participation in the Stark County Council of Governments bus bid program.
— Set the next meeting for Feb. 17.
