At Wooster City Schools, we are leveraging these winter months to pause, reflect and look ahead. As we close one chapter and begin a new phase of planning, we are moving forward with purpose, intention and collaboration.
From 2023-25 Wooster City Schools’ strategic plan aligned our work around clear priorities while keeping students at the center of every decision. With that plan now complete, we are beginning development of a new strategic plan to guide our progress over the next three to five years.
Strategic planning is more than setting goals; it requires listening carefully to our community, students and staff members to gain a deeper understanding of what our students need to succeed. It provides a framework for direction, alignment and accountability while allowing us to build on existing strengths, identify areas for improvement and establish a shared vision for our schools.
Community input plays a critical role in this effort. In the coming months, families and community members will have opportunities to share their perspectives through two focus groups and a brief survey. These opportunities are designed to be accessible and meaningful, ensuring a broad range of voices help shape the district’s direction.
Please visit our district social media channels and website for a link to the survey launching Feb. 23. An in-person focus group will be held March 10 at 7 p.m. in the Wooster High School library. A virtual focus group will follow March 12 at 7 p.m. and will be accessible via QR code. I encourage parents and community members to take this opportunity to share their perspectives and valuable feedback.
Along with our strategic planning, it’s important to recognize the board of education’s ongoing thoughtful consideration of the district’s facilities plan. The board will continue these crucial discussions in the coming months to reach a decision that prioritizes long-term solutions that best serve our students.
