Valentine’s Day, which is Saturday, has always been special for a well-known Carrollton couple.
As in the past, John Campbell never forgets to get a Valentine’s Day card for his wife, Melanie, as they approach 46 years of marriage in March.
“We are as happy today as we were the day we were married — March 29, 1980,” Melanie Campbell said.
“All marriages have good times and bad, but we stay focused on the good. When there are disagreements, we resolve them and let them go," she said.
“We work together making decisions. Our values and our goals are closely aligned, but when we have different views, we have respect for each other, so we take the time to talk to each other and to listen to each other.
“We are two unique individuals, but we accept each other for who we are. We support each other and at the end of the day we know as a couple we make our home a safe, loving space,” she said.
The Campbells met in October 1977 at a hearing in Judge Patricia Anderson’s courtroom.
“We started dating a few months later, and we married March 29, 1980. This March will be 46 years,” she said.
“We have two wonderful adult daughters, Bridget and Allison. Bridget is married and lives in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Bridget has a 9-year-old son, Michael, who is our only grandchild. Allison is married and lives in Massillon.”
The Campbells reside in Carroll Heights Allotment, Carrollton.
