Single contested race set for Carroll County primary

Only one contested political race for one of three county offices will appear on the May 5 primary election ballot in Carroll County.

Petitions for the Jan. 1, 2027, term of Carroll County commissioner were filed by the Feb. 4 deadline by Donald E. Leggett, the incumbent, of 7217 Scio Road, Scio, and Ron Eick of 5164 Alliance Road NW, Malvern. Both are seeking the Republican nomination for the four-year post.

Unopposed for the Republican nomination for Carroll County auditor and judge of the Common Pleas Court, Probate/Juvenile Division, are Staci L. Brady, the incumbent county auditor, of 2104 Arrow Road SE, Scio, and Jennifer L. Thomas of 877 Roswell Road NW, Carrollton. Thomas is seeking the six-year term as judge of Common Pleas Court, Probate/Juvenile Division, currently held by Judge Sean R. H. Smith, who is not seeking re-election.

The deadline for filing as nonpartisans for county offices is May 4, according to Carroll County Director of Elections Deloris Kean.

Petitions filed by the Feb. 4 deadline are now subject to approval by the Carroll County Board of Elections.
