Sandy Creek Joint Fire District hosts multi-agency response class

Firefighters and emergency responders from multiple county agencies participate in a rail car incident response training hosted by the Sandy Creek Joint Fire District of Minerva.

The Sandy Creek Joint Fire District of Minerva served as the host site for the Carroll County Fire Association’s Rail Car Incident Response class, which was taught by the All Hazards Training Center at the University of Findlay.
Firefighters and emergency personnel from multiple agencies participated in the training, including members of the Sandy Creek Joint Fire District of Minerva, Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department, Marathon Petroleum Corp., Great Trail Fire District, Augusta Township Volunteer Fire Department, Carrollton Fire Department, Canal Fulton–Lawrence Township Fire Department, Summit County Hazardous Materials Team, Stark County Hazardous Materials Team and the Jewett Volunteer Fire Department.
The class focused on response considerations and safety procedures related to rail car incidents, providing specialized training for firefighters and hazardous materials responders.
Special thanks were extended to Sandy Creek Joint Fire District firefighter Johnathan Cline for organizing the training. Additional appreciation was given to Kishman’s IGA for providing food for participants and to the Carroll County Emergency Management Agency for supplying refreshments.
Organizers also thanked Peggy Horn for coordinating the class for the county, noting the training was informative for all who attended.
