The annual Carrollton FFA fruit sale fundraiser is now underway and will run through Nov. 13. The chapter is offering a wide variety of fresh citrus and nuts from Florida, along with apples from local Ohio orchards and DB Yummers barbecue sauce, which is made and bottled in Ohio.

For more than 20 years, the Carrollton FFA chapter has been one of the top three selling chapters in Ohio, a success made possible by the consistent support of the community.

Funds raised from the fruit sale go toward providing students with numerous opportunities such as attending the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, the Ohio State FFA Convention in Columbus and participating in spring career development tests and judging contests. The proceeds also help cover costs for Ohio FFA Camp, Greenhand Camp, the annual chapter banquet and many other educational activities.

FFA advisor Ryan Borland said the chapter currently has 84 active members who gain valuable real-world experience from the annual sale. “It teaches students responsibility, money handling, organization skills, goal setting and customer service,” Borland said.

He also expressed appreciation for the strong community backing over the years. “We’ve had tremendous community support the past 20 years and we’re very appreciative of that. It’s been an ongoing and growing fundraiser,” Borland said.

Orders can be placed directly with local FFA members or by calling the Carrollton High School agriculture department at 330-627-2134, ext. 8240. There is no online ordering option this year.

Founded in 1928, FFA, formerly known as Future Farmers of America, is a national youth organization that prepares students for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. Today, the organization serves more than 945,000 members across all 50 states, promoting hands-on learning and personal growth through agricultural education and community involvement. Through local chapters like Carrollton’s, students develop career readiness, leadership skills and a deep appreciation for agriculture’s role in both local economies and national progress.
