Tusky Valley Ruritan Club holds August meeting
The Tusky Valley Ruritan Club held its monthly dinner meeting Aug. 19 at the Fairfield Fire Department. Fifteen members and one guest attended. The ladies auxiliary served a chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, applesauce, bread and butter, water, punch and coffee. Cake and ice cream were served for dessert.
The club decided not to take its food trailer to the Sparks for Giving event this fall. Member Katie Burrier will research volunteer opportunities for the club at the event.
Jim Downing volunteered to fix two windows in the food trailer to prepare it for the Atwood Fall Festival.
President Randie McRobie reminded the Ruritan of the Year committee to make its selection soon enough to allow time to order the award plaque. The annual award will be presented at the November ladies night.
Club charter member John Ladrach asked to step down as treasurer. Amy Burrier moved from secretary to treasurer, and new member April Ernst became secretary.
The club also agreed to check with the three local fire departments on their supply of Rudy Bears. The Mineral City Fire Department reported it had run out. The club will reorder and distribute Rudy Bears to each department. The bears are given to children during emergency situations.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Warren Township Community Center in New Cumberland.
