Tuscarawas County Library System to host America 250 programs
Programs offered January through April will highlight historic figures, notable events and area landmarks.

The Tuscarawas County Library System will partner with area museums and local historians to celebrate America’s 250th birthday this year. Programs offered January through April will highlight historic figures, notable events and area landmarks.
Programs include:
— Join Chris Hart for a presentation on Ohio native Neil Armstrong at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Main Library, 121 Fair Ave. NW, New Philadelphia.
— Kerry Metzger will present “When Liberty Took Root: The Revolutionary Surge of Spring of 1776” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Main Library.
— Project Appleseed will detail the founding of the nation at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Strasburg Branch, 356 Fifth St. SW, Strasburg.
— Seth Angel will discuss the history of Schoenbrunn Village and its impact on the founding of America at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Main Library.
— The Age of Steam Roundhouse will present “The Golden Era of Railroading” at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, at the Tuscarawas Branch, 209 S. Main St.
— Chris Hart will share the story of the disappearance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Main Library.
— Doug Angeloni will discuss Fort Laurens and its impact on the founding of America at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the Main Library.
— Learn what happened behind closed doors at Independence Hall as Chris Hart portrays Secretary Charles Thomson, reflecting on the differences set aside for adoption of the Declaration of Independence. The program will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at the Sugarcreek Branch, 120 S. Broadway.
— Celebrate the 251st anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord with Project Appleseed at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the Tuscarawas Branch.
— Andy McMillen will discuss how the Gnadenhutten settlement impacted the founding of America at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the Main Library.
— Pastor John Wallace will discuss artist John Valentine Haidt, the Moravian painter whose works are displayed at Schoenbrunn Village, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the Bolivar Branch, 455 W. Water St.
