“Trumpet in the Land” will hold auditions for its 2026 summer season.

Auditions and technical interviews for the 2026 season of Trumpet in the Land will be held March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Welcome Center, 124 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia.

In addition to the outdoor drama, the summer schedule includes productions of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “State Fair,” “Noah from A-Z” and a reenactment of “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere.” A special America 250 fall production will be announced in May.

Entering its 57th season, Trumpet in the Land is Ohio’s official state play and tells the story of Ohio’s first settlement, Schoenbrunn, during the Revolutionary War era. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paul Green wrote the script. The show is staged at the Schoenbrunn Amphitheatre in New Philadelphia.

“State Fair,” with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, follows the Frake family as they travel from their Iowa farm to the state fair for three days of competition and adventure. The musical includes songs such as “A Grand Night for Singing,” “It Might as Well Be Spring” and the title song.

“Noah from A-Z,” by George Latshaw, is a family production written for the amphitheatre stage and first performed in 1973.

The reenactment of “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere” will mark the 251st anniversary of the historic ride and will be presented as a performance of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem. The lead actor must be able to ride a horse.

Lead and supporting roles are available for all shows, along with chorus and ensemble positions. Actors and singers must provide a photo and resume and prepare a 1- to 2-minute monologue from any play or musical and 16 to 32 bars of a song. An accompanist and CD/MP3 player will be provided. A cappella auditions are not accepted.

Technical applicants must provide a photo and resume with references. Positions include stage manager, carpenter, properties, costumer, pyrotechnician and technical assistants.

Those unable to attend March 7 may submit a video audition by March 27 to trumpet@frontier.com. Applicants should include “Trumpet in the Land Audition” in the email subject line and attach a headshot and resume along with the video or a link.
