Bob Laghetto, a retired science teacher, will share his experiences as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana during a Lunch and Learn program Thursday, Oct. 16, at 12:15 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center.
In a presentation titled The World Was My Classroom – My Peace Corps Experience, Laghetto will begin with a brief description of the Peace Corps before describing daily life in Ghana and the challenges he faced while immersing himself in the local culture. He will also reflect on the “reverse culture shock” he experienced upon returning to the United States.
Laghetto taught science in Ohio for 38 years and has a long record of educational leadership. As a former team leader for Project Discovery, he helped provide professional development to science and math teachers across the state.
The Lunch and Learn series is sponsored by the Dover Public Library and takes place on the third Thursday of each month at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, 425 Prospect St., Dover.
