New Philadelphia

New Philadelphia golfer Brady Evans is knocking on the door while putting together a stellar season so far, highlighting Quaker sports.

Golf

Evans has gotten the season off to a solid start with four runner-up finishes. That included a 69 in Round 1 of OCC tournament play. The Quakers finished fourth as a squad. Evans earlier shot a pair of 68s to finish second at the Pirate Invitational at Zoar and Indian Valley Invite at River Greens, and shot a 70 to place second at the Tusky Central Catholic Invite at Riceland in Orrville. The girls team finished fifth at the first round of OCC tourney play, led by senior Ella Ridgeway’s 98.

Volleyball

The Quakers started their season with a tough non-league road loss to Sandy Valley on Aug. 16, falling in four sets, 25-21, 25-23, 25-27, 25-21. New Philadelphia was set to begin its Ohio Cardinal Conference season with another road game, this one at Ashland, Aug. 21 followed by the Quakers’ home opener, also a conference tilt, on Aug. 23 against Mansfield Senior.

Girls soccer

New Philadelphia split a pair of non-league road matches to start the 2025 season,  opening with a 1-0 victory over River View Aug. 16 before falling 4-2 two days later at Massillon Washington. The Quakers were to begin Ohio Cardinal Conference play Aug. 21 at home against Mansfield Madison Comprehensive.

Girls Tennis

The Quakers headed into the week unbeaten in dual match play with wins over Mansfield Senior (4-0), Louisville (4-1) and Claymont (4-1). They were set to pick things back up with matches at home against Madison Comprehensive, and at Massillon and Cambridge on Tuesday through Thursday.
