Micah Burkett performs at Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando

Strasburg High School cheerleader Micah Burkett of Strasburg, performed in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, Dec. 31.

Burkett was part of the pregame performance group invited through Varsity Spirit, which selects trophy winners from Universal Cheerleaders Association, Universal Dance Association, National Cheerleaders Association, National Dance Alliance summer camps and Urban Cheerleading Experience programs.

Burkett traveled to Orlando for a week of rehearsals leading up to the game. Performers took the field at Camping World Stadium, entertaining a crowd of about 60,000 fans during the college football bowl game.

The Citrus Bowl has been a college football tradition since 1947 and is considered one of the nation’s oldest collegiate bowl games. The trip also provided cheerleaders and dancers an opportunity to visit Universal Studios Orlando.
