Library announces winners of Bookmark Art Contest
Tuscarawas County Public Library System names Kelly Levesque and Jasmine Montanez winners; artwork to be featured on limited-edition bookmarks available at all locations.
Two area residents have been named winners of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System’s Bookmark Art Contest, held this summer. The contest invited community members to submit artwork on the theme “Color Our World.”
“We were amazed at the talent of all the contestants,” said Public Relations Associate Megan Kovalaske-Grimm. “Everyone’s interpretation of our theme was impressive and beautiful. It was exciting to see the entries being submitted.”
Entries were judged by local artist John Wallace, Library Friends’ member Candy Beaber, and library staff member Max Mead.
First place went to Kelly Levesque of Bolivar for her piece titled “The Library Can Color Our World with Healing.” Runner-up was Jasmine Montanez of Sugarcreek for her piece titled “Seeds of Knowledge.”
The winning artwork will be printed on limited-edition bookmarks, available while supplies last at all Tuscarawas County Public Library locations in New Philadelphia, Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugarcreek and Tuscarawas, as well as at Mobile Service community stops.
All entries may be picked up through Oct. 8 at the Main Library, 121 Fair Ave. NW, New Philadelphia. The library is not responsible for entries left after that date.
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System provides access to resources that help residents live, learn and grow. For more information about upcoming events, visit www.tusclibrary.org.
