Indian Valley senior’s animation selected for COSI exhibit
'The Art of Storytelling' will be on view at COSI through Sept. 7
Melody Sprowl, an Art IV senior at Indian Valley High School, has had her original animation selected for a community art exhibition at COSI in Columbus.
Sprowl’s work was chosen for “The Art of Storytelling,” a juried exhibition inspired by COSI’s “The Science Behind Pixar” exhibit. The exhibition recognizes artists who create original characters and narratives through visual storytelling.
Her selected animation, “Popped!,” follows a small creature named Tucker who longs for adventure beyond his home. Tucker’s chance comes when a runaway balloon carries him far from the safety of his nest. Instead of the excitement he hoped for, Tucker faces disappointment and aggression, leaving his optimism shaken. Alone, he questions whether he will ever find a true friend. A simple act of kindness from a fish named Binky helps Tucker discover that friendship may be closer than he thinks.
“The Art of Storytelling” will be on view at COSI through Sept. 7.
Sprowl plans to attend West Liberty University and major in art education.
