This high-energy performance delivers a World War II–era USO-style show set against the historic backdrop of one of Ohio’s most iconic railroad landmarks.

The Jericho Big Band will bring the sound and spirit of the 1940s to life with “Swing for Freedom: The Jericho Big Band America 250 Experience” Sunday, April 26, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Dennison Railroad Museum as part of the 250 Buckeye Train Transportation Celebration. The concert is free and open to the public.

The performance will offer a World War II-era USO-style show against the backdrop of one of Ohio’s best-known railroad landmarks. The band will perform near the event gazebo, highlighting the connection between rail transportation and swing music while honoring America’s musical heritage and transportation legacy during the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The program will feature songs from the WWII era, including Glenn Miller favorites “In the Mood,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “American Patrol,” along with Andrews Sisters classics “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” The concert also will pay tribute to Frank Sinatra, Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong and Doris Day.

The Jericho Big Band performs with a 19-piece ensemble featuring two vocalists in WWII-era attire, along with saxophones, trombones, trumpets and a rhythm section.

Organizers said attendees can expect a lively performance that reflects the pride, patriotism and spirit of the era.
