Indian Valley seeded fourth in Div. IV volleyball

Claymont and Newcomerstown also secure postseason matchups as East District tournament brackets are finalized

Indian Valley’s volleyball team got 126 points in the seeding vote, making the Braves the No. 4 seed at the upcoming Div. IV sectional/district. Meadowbrook is No. 1, followed by River View, Beaver and St. Clairsville. The Braves will play at 6 p.m. on Oct. 14 at home against Philo. The winner will advance, likely to play No. 2 River View in a 6 p.m. district semi on Oct. 21. The district championship is two days later, also at 6.

Here is how other area seeding went in votes last week:

Div. V volleyball

Claymont was voted the No. 6 seed in the East District. The top four are Union Local, Martins Ferry, Fairless and Tusky Valley. Claymont will open the postseason at 6 p.m. on Oct. 13 at No. 5 Ridgewood. The winner will play at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at No. 2 Martins Ferry, which opens with a bye. The district semifinal is Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. with the championship two days later, also at 6 at a site to be determined.

 Div. VI volleyball

Newcomerstown was voted into the No. 7 spot during seeding for the East District, but will get a home match, thanks to a decent draw. The top four seeds are Hiland, Shenandoah, Buckeye Trail and Monroe Central. Newcomerstown will start the postseason at 6 p.m. on Oct. 14 at home against No. 1 Crooksville. The winner will travel to Berlin to face No. 1 Hiland in a district semifinal at 6 p.m. The district championship is at 6 p.m. on Oct. 20 at a site to be determined.
