Household hazardous waste collection event set May 9 in Dover

A household hazardous waste collection event will be held by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 9 at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds, 259 S. Tuscarawas Ave., Dover.

The event is hosted by the Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Solid Waste District and the Tuscarawas County Health Department.

Accepted items include automotive fluids, cleaning supplies and other household chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, diesel, kerosene and gasoline, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers, oil-based paint, mercury-containing devices and aerosols. Latex paint will not be accepted.

Participants must schedule an appointment, remain in their vehicle, provide a driver’s license and sign an affidavit confirming the waste was generated in a household for residential use.
