Historic Zoar Village to host Christmas tours and festivities
At Christmas in Zoar, guests can experience 19th-century demonstrations showcasing American and German holiday customs
Historic Zoar Village will host Christmas tours Nov. 29, Dec. 6, and Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the annual Christmas in Zoar celebration returns Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
During the Christmas tours, visitors can explore decorated historic buildings highlighting German Christmas traditions and the origins of many holiday customs. Tours are by reservation only and leave every 30 minutes.
At Christmas in Zoar, guests can experience 19th-century demonstrations showcasing American and German holiday customs. Throughout the village, festive figures such as Santa, Kristkind, Father Christmas, the German Belsnickel, and Krampus will greet visitors during both the tours and the Christmas celebration.
Other seasonal attractions include the Merry Miles 5K, live music, the annual pickle hunt, hot chocolate, and more. Shoppers can find unique gifts and decor at the Zoar Store, Zoar Bakery, and from local vendors and artisans.
Live performances by choirs and instrumental groups will fill the village and the Zoar Meeting House (Zoar United Church of Christ) with holiday music. Scheduled performers include the Camarada Brass Quintet, Trombone Alliance, Northwest High School Choir, Delphian Chorale, North Canton High School Choir, and the Bravera Woodwind Quintet.
On Saturday, Dec. 6, guests can attend a 5 p.m. church service at the Zoar United Church of Christ, followed by a 6 p.m. tree-lighting ceremony in the Zoar Garden.
Admission is $15 for adults and free for children 12 and under. For tickets, vendor applications, or more information, call 330-874-3011 or visit historiczoarvillage.com.
