Dover Community Parks Foundation plans fall events

Families can enjoy candy stops in the park, around the pond and up the trail to the amphitheater.

A fall lineup is taking shape for Dover Community Parks Foundation events. Hoodletown will serve as the new location for the third annual Parktoberfest. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11, from 4-7 p.m. While the location is changing, the atmosphere and fun will remain the same. German-themed food, adult beverages, music and games will help create the lively event supporting the foundation. Silent auction items will also be available.

Tickets go on sale Sept. 2 at the Dover Parks and Recreation Office, McDonald Niklaus Gifts or from any board member. Tickets cost $20 and include a bratwurst sandwich with bun, sauerkraut, potato salad, dill pickle, an adult beverage or fountain drink, and dessert. The foundation continues to seek sponsorships for this event. Anyone interested may contact Beth Aljancik at 330-604-3358. Proceeds will assist with ongoing park and trail improvements. The trail needs maintenance and upgrades following heavy rains this past summer. The foundation is working with Jeff Matthews of Dover Parks and Recreation to help prioritize projects.

Completing the trail work is important as the foundation prepares for Trick or Treat on the Trail. The event is set for Sunday, Oct. 26, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Families can enjoy candy stops in the park, around the pond and up the trail to the amphitheater. Additional activities include face painting by the Dover cheerleaders, crafts from the Dover Public Library, a fall photo backdrop and a Moxie Studio Monster Mash dance session at the amphitheater. Volunteers interested in setting up a treat stop are welcome and encouraged to contact the foundation through Facebook.
