County goes pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Paint Tusc Pink campaign encourages community displays and highlights lifesaving importance of mammograms.
Tuscarawas County will turn pink this October as the community unites for the annual Paint Tusc Pink campaign.
Local businesses, schools and organizations are invited to decorate their spaces with pink paint, posters, displays and apparel to raise awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to emphasize the importance of regular screening mammograms for early detection and treatment.
Paint Tusc Pink is a free, community-driven initiative led by Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital’s Community Health and Wellness Department. The campaign highlights key facts: one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, both women and men are at risk, and mammograms save lives by enabling early detection.
Union Hospital is providing complimentary Paint Tusc Pink yard signs for participants. Businesses, schools and organizations interested in creating displays or obtaining a sign can contact the hospital’s Community Relations Department at 330-365-3866 or email lautend2@ccf.org.
Hospital staff will photograph displays throughout October to celebrate community participation. Photos can also be submitted by email.
Mammogram appointments are available at Union Hospital’s Mammography Center by calling 330-364-0888. A physician’s order is required to schedule an appointment.
