Canal Town Book Festival returns to Dover High on Oct. 4
Event to feature 50 authors, panel discussions, children’s activities and raffles
The fourth annual Canal Town Book Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the old gymnasium at Dover High School, 520 N. Walnut St. An author fair with more than 50 authors will be on hand to meet the public and sign and sell copies of their books. Admission is free and open to all. Guests are asked to use the entrance on Sixth Street.
Five author-led panel discussions will also take place:
10 a.m. — How to Make Worlds Collide: World Building
10 a.m. — Characters That Breathe: Building Characters Who Own the Story
11:30 a.m. — Crafting a Whodunnit
1 p.m. — DIY Publishing with Amazon/KDP
1 p.m. — An Author's Journey: Mindy McGinnis
Other events will include children’s activities such as face painting, story time, a photo booth and a coloring station. Raffle prizes will also be available. For every $5 spent on books, guests will earn a raffle ticket with the chance to win prizes. Food trucks will also be on site.
Sponsors for this year’s event include the Friends of the Dover Public Library, the Bibliophile Bookshop, the Tuscarawas County Literacy Coalition, Dover Flea Market, Mary Zifer Pizza of Dover, Hazelmore Castle Suite, DoverPhila Federal Credit Union and Penso’s Pizza.
