Fundraiser May 17 will help furnish the future kitchen at Grace Methodist Church's renovated Walnut Street location

Grace Methodist Church hosted its second annual chili cook-off fundraiser May 17, bringing together members of the congregation for an afternoon of competition and fellowship.

The event featured nine chefs who donated their time and culinary talents to support the fundraiser. Each prepared a favorite chili recipe, offering attendees a variety of flavors and styles. Guests sampled each entry and cast donations for the chili they liked best.

Bragging rights for the first-place win go to Gary Lowe (right). Second place was Brian Clark (middle) with Wayne Kneppere (left) taking third place.

Thanks to the generosity of the congregation and other community members, more than $685 was raised to help furnish the church’s future kitchen at the renovated 422 Walnut St. location.

The kitchen at Grace Church will serve the wider community through local outreach ministries including community meals, fellowship events and hospitality programs.

“The chili cook-off was a wonderful way to enjoy fellowship while investing in a project that will bless our church and community for years to come,” said Jo Ann Wolfgang, chair of the Grace Church Hospitality Committee, which helped organize the event. “We are grateful to our talented chefs, generous donors and everyone who came out to support the kitchen renovation.”
