Warner Home Comfort builds on Carrollton roots with full-service plumbing and HVAC

Smith Piping has been a trusted name in Carrollton since 1971, but in 2016 the business took on new life when Tim and Joy Warner purchased it and merged it with Tim’s established heating and cooling company. The result was Warner Home Comfort LLC & Smith Piping Co., a full-service provider offering plumbing, heating, cooling, water well services and a retail plumbing parts store under one roof.

The Warners, both Carrollton High School graduates and sweethearts, left their hometown to attend Ohio State University before returning to raise their family and build their business.

“We love this community, and we wanted to raise our son here,” Joy Warner said.

Their son, Gabriel Warner, a recent graduate of the University of Mount Union, has also joined the company team, adding a new generation to the family business.

Warner Home Comfort sets itself apart with its wide range of services. Alongside HVAC installation and service for furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps, the company also installs water heaters, including tankless systems, and maintains water well pumps. Plumbing services range from fixture installation to full kitchen and bath remodels. The business was the first in town to provide drain cleaning, and it also offers backflow testing — all in addition to its retail shop, which sells professional-grade plumbing materials.

For Joy Warner, running a business is second nature. Her father operated his own chiropractic practice for 35 years, and her mother managed the bookkeeping.

“I learned a lot from my parents about honesty, integrity and a good work ethic,” she said.

Tim Warner, whose parents were both professional educators, said those same values are at the core of their business.

The company employs about nine full-time staff members and three part-time workers, and the Warners say their team is like family. They still feel the loss of longtime office manager Dave Price, who worked there more than 20 years before passing away in July.

The Warners say the support of the community has been unwavering.

“The community has been awesome, wonderful, very supportive,” Joy Warner said.

With deep local roots and a family-oriented approach, Warner Home Comfort has grown into a business that not only serves its neighbors but is also shaped by them.
