Minerva to celebrate Oktoberfest with music, contests and family fun Sept. 27
Festival at Municipal Park features live bands, food, children’s activities, beer garden and new events including beer-carrying obstacle course

Minerva’s Oktoberfest will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, from noon to 8 p.m. in Municipal Park, featuring live music, food, crafters, children’s activities, contests, a beer garden, and craft breweries and wineries. Admission is free.
The day begins with a Walk to End Alzheimer’s from 9-11 a.m., organized by Minerva Memory Makers. For walk details, contact Theresa Linder at 330-205-5561.
Live music starts at noon with Visinata playing polkas and more, followed by T. Free & the Panic Attacks at 3:30 p.m. Bands are sponsored by Gionino’s Pizzeria, Harding Heating and Cooling, Summit Glove and The Hart Mansion Restaurant.
Family activities include free pumpkin painting sponsored by Consumers National Bank, a free hayride sponsored by Uptown Auto, a Lost French Golf scavenger hunt with a gold nugget grand prize provided by Bartley Funeral Home, pumpkin bowling, a petting zoo, pony rides and more.
Pie-baking contest entries for adult, teen and youth divisions are due by noon, with The Komfort Zone as sponsor. The beer stein slide runs all day. Sack races sponsored by Real Integrity Real Estate Services agent Brandy Berry begin at 2 p.m., as does the Power Wheel Demolition Derby for adults and kids. Registration by donation is open through Sept. 17, with proceeds benefiting Hogs Helping Heroes. Text 330-205-8755 or 330-610-4614 to register. The beer stein–lifting contest sponsored by Megan Eckstein of Keller Williams Real Estate will be at the stage about 6 p.m., with men’s and women’s divisions. New this year, a beer-carrying obstacle course sponsored by Minerva Area YMCA and E4 Undercoating follows at about 6:30 p.m.; the winner will be the person who finishes the course fastest with the most liquid remaining in the glass. Several rounds of chicken poop bingo will be held throughout the day.
Food trucks will be on site. The beer garden will sell domestic beers. Tipsy Farmer Winery and Hidden Trails Wine Cellar will pour wines, and craft beers will be available from Sandy Springs Brewing Company and Aeonian Brewing Company.
