Students at Minerva High School led an assembly the morning of Sept. 11 to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
The entire student body gathered to honor the memory of the victims and to pay tribute to first responders, law enforcement and military members who dedicate their lives to public safety. Patriotic performances were given by the Minerva Chamber Choir and the MHS band.
Teacher Julie Holderbaum delivered a message reflecting on her own experience learning of the day’s tragic events while in her classroom. She expressed gratitude for the brave men and women who serve communities and the country.
The Minerva FFA, guided by advisor Kyle Lucas, also played a key role in the ceremony. Members led a presentation with patriotic readings and moments of remembrance, underscoring the event’s tone of respect and reflection.
“It is incredibly important for our students to understand the significance of this day and to honor those who sacrificed so much, as well as those who continue to protect us,” Principal Andy Mangun said.
Superintendent Mark Scott said the student-led initiative served as a powerful display of unity and a commitment to never forget.
