JVS culinary students offer Fish Fry Fridays through March 27
Proceeds will support the culinary arts program
Fish Fry Fridays are back at Jefferson County Joint Vocational School as culinary arts students prepare meals for the Lenten season.
The Crestview Inn Café will offer dine-in and carryout fish fry meals from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays through March 27. Meals are $12 each.
Customers may choose fried cod or popcorn shrimp with French fries or onion rings, plus cole slaw or tossed salad, hush puppies, bread and butter, and tartar or cocktail sauce.
Instructor Glen Zalenski said the café is open Fridays only during the fish fry.
“The rear gate will be open and people can stop in for orders,” Zalenski said. “This is our third annual and it has become popular through the years.”
Zalenski said the fish fry can accommodate individual meals and group orders. Proceeds will support the culinary arts program, including field trips and related expenses, along with the purchase of food and supplies.
He said students plan to compete in the ProStart Invitational in Columbus March 9-10, tour a culinary and hospitality program at Hocking College, attend a leadership conference in Columbus March 24-26, and take an end-of-year trip to Kennywood in May.
The Crestview Inn Café is at Jefferson County JVS, 1509 County Highway 22A, Bloomingdale. To place an order or for more information, call 740-264-5545, ext. 602.
