Harrison Central seniors compete in OVAC Soccer All-Star Showcase
Grace Miller and Hunter Fulton represent Huskies as standout seniors join top players from across the conference
The 30th annual Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Soccer Senior All-Star Classic took place Nov. 16 at St. Clairsville Red Devil Stadium. The conference includes 58 member schools across three soccer divisions. Senior players were selected from more than 150 athletes to participate.
Representing Harrison Central High School were Grace Miller, No. 22, and Hunter Fulton, No. 34. Miller competed in soccer for four years, while Fulton is a three-year veteran. Both played midfield for the Huskies.
“I’m very excited and thankful for this opportunity,” Fulton said. “I want to thank Coach Derek Gramling and my current and former teammates for developing me into the player and person I am today.”
“I am very appreciative of this opportunity to be a part of the game,” Miller said. “Thank you to Coach Mindy Madzia for always believing in me and pushing me to be my best.”
Standout boys players representing local schools included Isaiah Filburn of Edison; Parker Galloway, Tyler Harris and Talan Rice of St. Clairsville; and Landon Heisler and Brady Roe of Union Local.
Local girls selected included Tessa Irwin of Indian Creek, and Maxim Lussier and Olivia McKeever of St. Clairsville. Ava Borkoski of St. Clairsville was selected but was unable to play due to injury.
Ohio girls coaches were Jonathan Hoover of Steubenville Central, and the West Virginia girls coach was Bill Konkle of Wheeling Central. Ohio boys coaches were Steve Kopcha of Steubenville Central, and the West Virginia boys coach was Brian Komorowski of Wheeling Central.
Ohio Defensive Player of the Game was Talan Rice of St. Clairsville, and Ohio Offensive Player of the Game was Santiago Descalzo of Steubenville. West Virginia Defensive Player of the Game was Sam Rockey of Wheeling Park, and West Virginia Offensive Player of the Game was Agustin Fonseca of Linsly.
