First-day enrollments rise at Carrollton, Conotton Valley and Sandy Valley schools
Several districts across Carroll, Stark, Harrison and surrounding counties report increases for the 2025-26 school year, while Minerva shows a decline

Carrollton Exempted Village School District reported a first-day total of 1,805 students in prekindergarten through 12th grade — an increase of 123 students from the 1,682 reported on the first day in 2024.
Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year includes: prekindergarten, 60; kindergarten, 108; first grade, 111; second grade, 123; third grade, 120; fourth grade, 122; fifth grade, 132; sixth grade, 126; seventh grade, 143; eighth grade, 120; ninth grade, 150; 10th grade, 169; 11th grade, 164; and 12th grade, 157.

Brown Local
Interdistrict enrollment numbers have not been finalized at Malvern, according to Brown Local Superintendent Danielle Hawk.
Conotton Valley Union Local
First-day enrollment totals 605 students, an increase of 35 from the 570 reported in September 2024, according to Superintendent John Zucal.
Breakdown: prekindergarten, 53; kindergarten, 48; first grade, 41; second grade, 47; third grade, 47; fourth grade, 45; fifth grade, 46; sixth grade, 42; seventh grade, 42; eighth grade, 36; ninth grade, 41; 10th grade, 31; 11th grade, 10; 12th grade, 9; Buckeye Career Center 11th grade, 29; Harrison Career Center 11th grade, 1; College Credit Plus, 14.
Minerva Local
First-day enrollment for 2025-26 totaled 1,692, down 78 from the 1,770 reported in 2024.
According to Superintendent Mark Scott, the breakdown includes 713 students at Minerva Elementary, 437 at Minerva Middle and 408 at Minerva High. An additional 134 students attend R.G. Drage Career Technical Center.
Sandy Valley Local
Sandy Valley has 35 more students than in 2024.
According to Superintendent David Fischer, enrollment totals 1,234, including 544 in kindergarten through fifth grade, 287 in grades 6-8 and 403 in grades 9-12.
Edison Local
Edison reports an increase of 20 students this school year, according to Superintendent Bill Beattie.
First-day enrollment on Aug. 20 was 1,473, compared with 1,453 in 2024-25.
Southern Local
No enrollment figures were available.
R.G. Drage Career Technical Center
A total of 776 students are enrolled, including 382 juniors and 394 seniors. That figure includes 50 from Brown Local, 156 from Minerva Local and four from Sandy Valley Local, according to Center Director Dan Murphy.
Buckeye Career Center
Enrollment totals 1,210, including 151 Carrollton students and 53 Conotton Valley students, according to Marketing Coordinator Shyanne Carroll.
